Overview

The Group has an extensive track record spanning almost four decades across a wide range of commodities. Our teams have deep expertise in the mining, minerals and metals processing industries, as well as related non-process infrastructure such as, water, and energy solutions.

DRA covers all major mining centers with offices across Africa and the Middle East, North and South America, USA and Asia-Pacific.

Senior Process Engineer, based out of our Toronto office. This position is responsible for the process engineering and discipline project design activities relating to concept, pre-feasibility, feasibility studies, EPCM and EPC projects.

Main functions include (but not limited to):

  • Process Engineering
  • Metallurgical Evaluation
  • Peer review of estimates, schedules, proposals, designs and constructability
  • Technical Support
  • Reporting and Documentation

Responsibilities:

  • Manages internal design and drafting resources.
  • Manages the Process design team to ensure that Process designs are carried out in accordance with client standards and specification documentation, industry norms and the relevant legislation
  • Ensures the effective review and approval of Process design and engineering
  • Develops improved work practices and ensures familiarity with new and innovative process technologies
  • Undertakes techno-economic investigations
  • Leads and / or assists with the process related commissioning activities of the project including legal appointments for commissioning activities.
  • Ensures that the installation is in accordance with the project & vendor specifications provide for the expected process functionality.
  • Displays a positive disposition towards expat commissioning requirements.
  • Provides process inputs for preliminary economics assessments, pre-feasibility studies, and feasibility studies
  • Participates in studies completed under the CIM’s National Instrument 43-101, understands the standard, and leads the preparation of relevant report sections.
  • Understands and applies the CIM Practice Guidelines for Mineral Processing for studies completed under the NI 43-101 standard.
  • Assesses processes for their relevance and the adequacy of engineering equipment.
  • Designs, installs and commissions new production units, monitoring modifications and upgrades, and troubleshooting existing processing issues.
  • Applies the principles of mass and heat transfer to process and equipment design, including conceptual, scheme and detail design.
  • Prepares reports, process flow diagrams (PFDs) and charts, and participates in the preparation of piping and instrumentation diagrams (P&IDs).
  • Manages the cost and time/schedule constraints within a project.
  • Selects, manages and works with sub-contractors and vendors, as required.
  • Supports the conversion of small-scale processes into commercially viable large-scale operations.
  • Assumes responsibility for risk assessment, including hazard and operability (HAZOP) and identification (HAZID) studies, for the health and safety of both company staff and the wider community.
  • Works closely with other specialists, including scientists responsible for the quality control of raw materials, intermediates and finished products; engineers responsible for plant maintenance; commercial colleagues on product specifications and production schedules; and the operating crew.
