Job summary

The Civil Project Engineer will lead civil design and construction activities, coordinating with clients and multidisciplinary teams, and managing civil contracts on site.

Qualifications

• 5+ years’ experience in a similar role within a multi-disciplinary EPCM environment.
• Bachelor’s degree in civil engineering.
• 3D design of infrastructure in mining and plant operations.
• Registered Engineer.

Responsibilities

• Design and Commissioning of civil works.
• Provide technical support and prepare reports and documentation.
• Coordinate with client, project manager and other disciplines to meet requirements.
• Manage external consultants and project scope, time and budget.
• Oversee civil and structural site staff and contractors for safety and quality.
• Produce and sign off drawings for construction and draft scope of work documents.

DRA Global Limited is an international multi-disciplinary engineering, project delivery and operations management group, predominantly focused on the mining, minerals and metals industry.

The Group has an extensive track record spanning over four decades across a wide range of commodities. Our teams have deep expertise in the mining, minerals and metals processing industries, as well as related non-process infrastructure such as, water, and energy solutions.

Reporting to DRA America’s Infrastructure & Civil Engineering HOD, the Civil Project Engineer will be responsible for Civil engineering, project discipline design activities and co-ordination. Responsible for the design and construction of civil engineering works, structures and buildings and for the preparation of drawings and specifications for such works. The Civil Project Engineer can also act as the contractual manager of all civil contracts on site.

Responsibilities

Main functions include (but not limited to):

Project Coordination

• Liaises and co-ordinates with the client, project manager and engineers of other disciplines to ensure adherence to project and client requirements and specifications.
• Manage and co-ordinate with external consultants.
• Manages the time schedule, cost, quality and scope on all civil and structural contracts of the project.
• Manages the civil and structural site supervisors to ensure that civil and structural contractors perform to project safety, environmental and quality requirements.
• Effectively utilizes company resources.
• Accurately marks-up designs for drafting personnel.
• Ensures Quality standards adhered to by checking accuracy of work before it gets issued.
• Advises, monitors and controls all civil and structural site staff and contractors on behalf of the Site Project Manager.
• Assures the client and project manager that the design, construction, testing and commissioning of a Civil and structural installation, under his/her charge, complies with all safety and statutory requirements.
• Acts within the framework of civil and structural contracts under his/her management.
• Manages high level of risks within projects relating to engineering processes, systems, equipment and infrastructure.
• Prepare engineering proposals estimates and budgets for civil, concrete and structural works
• Oversee the design of civil works (excavation, embankments, roads, culverts, buried services, structural concrete foundations work, structure works (buildings and equipment support)
• Producing and signing off of drawings for construction
• Drafting scope of work documentation for civil and structural concrete work
• Dealings with municipalities, agencies, contractors, and owners
• Reviewing civil and structural drawings, advising on aspects of design and constructability.
• Involvement with all procurement of civil and structural requirements and site contracts.
• Review and advise on on-site construction and solving all technical problems.
• Regular inspections and follow-up with civil and structural personnel on site.
• Compile civil and structural sections of reports.
• Provide civil and structural input for various phases of studies.
• Reviews civil drawings and advises on aspects of design and constructability.
• Reviews and advises on on-site construction and assists in solving all technical problems.
• Initial establishment of civil and structural personnel on site and Commissioning of civil work.
• Conducts regular inspections and follows-up with civil and structural personnel on site.
• Ensures that all civil and structural work is followed according to the initial plan.

Requirements

• 5+ years’ experience in a similar role within the multi-disciplinary EPCM environment.
• Bachelor’s degree in civil engineering.
• 3D design of infrastructure in mining and plant operations.
• Registered Engineer

The compensation range for this role is $115,000 to $125,000 annually, depending on the candidate's experience and qualifications.
