Job summary

Maple Leaf Foods seeks a Senior Automation Specialist to troubleshoot, service, and maintain automated controls across the facility, including production and support equipment. You will lead daily troubleshooting and implement PLC changes to meet production needs.

You will support distributed control and automation systems, ensure network integrity, and maintain backups. This role requires travel to other facilities and OEMs, strong communication, and a commitment to food safety standards.

Qualifications

• BS/degree in electrical, mechanical, industrial engineering or related diploma.
• Minimum 5 years of hands-on PLC experience in automated manufacturing.
• Strong knowledge of electrical schematics (NA/EU) and Rockwell ControlLogix.
• Experience with Factory Talk HMI is required; Fanuc robotics is a plus.
• Solid Ethernet/IP networking foundation in control systems.
• Ability to travel to other facilities and OEMs as needed.
• Excellent communication and leadership abilities; independent work style.
• Food processing experience is an asset.

Responsibilities

• Lead daily troubleshooting and provide solutions for process concerns and equipment improvements.
• Modify PLC programs to support production needs.
• Provide primary support for distributed process control and automation systems and robotics.
• Ensure integrity of machine control network architecture and backups.
• Troubleshoot HMI, PLC, Remote IO, VFD, and related networks.
• Maintain documentation and backups; manage Asset Center repositories.
• Interface with other disciplines to execute projects and uphold safety standards.
• Design electrical schematics in AutoCAD for equipment changes.
