As a Senior Pipeline Scheduler with Trans Mountain, you’ll have the opportunity to work with a progressive and fast-paced group of experts in the Shipper Services department. The Shipper Services department manages customer logistics, power consumption, pipeline scheduling, oil measurement and quality control for Trans Mountain (TM) Pipelines in Canada and the US.
The Senior Pipeline Scheduler has a strong skill set regarding scheduling pipelines and terminals based on their thorough understanding of the pipeline and terminal system. Responsible for the logistics of transporting oil through the pipeline while maximizing the revenues for the company, oversee and guide Schedulers on more complex issues to ensure schedules are accurate and optimized. They will represent Shipper Services on large projects and provide oversight and manage and update procedures and processes as needed.
Key Responsibilities
- Communicate with connected facilities and Merchant Shipper to ensure adequate supply is received and delivered as per nominations or customers’ requests that are acceptable.
- Identify risks to facilities regarding supply and intervene as required to minimize impacts.
- Gather, analyze and compile data for weekly and monthly management reporting.
- Work with departments to assess activities such as outage plans, maintenance plans, pipeline integrity inspections to understand requirements from scheduling, to optimize schedules, reduce impacts, and to coordinate movements as required.
- Schedule and optimize Pipeline Schedules (Merchant/Regulated Terminals and Pipelines).
- Manage Crude inventory throughout the system, by actualizing tanks and batches based on provided measurement data.
- Provide input to support the nomination process and ensure nominations are accepted to Pipeline and Facilities capabilities as needed.
- Provide directions on maintenance impacts for the new month as required.
- Collaborate with Team Lead on all new infrastructure changes and implement new processes.
- Represent the business interests of the department on large complex projects or taskforce, when projects arise.
- As delegated, train new schedulers and provide mentorship. Develop training tools and procedures related to each scheduling desk in collaboration with Lead Scheduler and the Scheduling group.
Qualifications And Professional Experience
- Completed degree/diploma in Petroleum Technical Diploma / Steam Engineering. (Hydraulics)/Accounting/Supply Chain Management.
- 10+ years of work experience in the oil industry preferably in scheduling or oil/gas operations.
- Technical background in pipeline hydraulics, process flow diagrams, SCADA and maintenance job plan review will be given a strong consideration.
- Understanding of crude oil scheduling and logistics and familiar with pipeline nomination process and oil accounting.
- Strong qualitative analytical skills with advanced proficiency with Microsoft Excel and operations or pipeline scheduling software.
- Proven outstanding interpersonal, decision making and problem-solving skills.
- Excellent communication skills, and the ability to translate scheduling activities into written instruction.
- Strong organizational skills, able to prioritize and handle multiple tasks simultaneously with minimal supervision.
- Demonstrated commitment to problem solving, risk mitigation with keen attention to detail.
- Ability to work in a fast paced and dynamic environment and deliver under pressure with strict deadlines and in stressful situations.
- Ability to build and maintain effective relationships across a diverse set of internal and external stakeholders.

- On Call schedule is required.
