Senior Payroll Specialist
We are seeking a skilled Senior Payroll Specialist to join and support our payroll team. With operations spanning Canada and the U.S., we manage seven separate payrolls and eight collective agreements. In this role, you’ll ensure accurate , timely , and compliant payroll processing for both union and non-union employees across both countries. Y ou will also be responsible for mentoring team members, guiding process improvements, and supporting payroll-related projects.
What you’ll do
Process union and non-union payroll for Canadian and US hourly and salaried employees in compliance with legislation, policies, and collective agreements
Maintain and update employee data in the HRIS and lead validation processes
Drive process improvements and system enhancements
Mentor and support payroll team members
Manage reporting, reconciliations, and year-end filings (T4, T4A, RL-1, W-2)
Act as the go-to expert for payroll escalations
What you bring to our team
Strong analytical, decision-making, and problem-solving skills
Excellent communication and collaboration abilities
Proficiency in Microsoft Office and payroll systems
In-depth knowledge of payroll processes and compliance
Proven ability to prioritize, meet deadlines, and ensure accuracy
Flexible, detail-oriented, and team-focused
4+ years of payroll and/or accounting experience
National Payroll Institute certification
