Job summary

Jonas Software is seeking an experienced Payroll Manager (US & Canada) to oversee all payroll activities for 3,000+ employees across North America. The role requires in‑depth knowledge of Canadian and U.S.

payroll rules, payroll accounting, and the ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast‑paced environment. You will report to the VP of HR, lead a team of 5 payroll staff, and collaborate with HR, Finance, and external vendors.

Qualifications

• 8–10+ years of payroll experience, including leadership roles.
• Deep knowledge of Canadian and U.S. payroll legislation.
• Strong knowledge of payroll accounting (journal entries, reconciliations).
• Experience leading and developing teams.

Responsibilities

• Oversee full‑cycle payroll processing for 3,000+ employees across Canada and the U.S.
• Ensure compliance with federal, provincial/state, and local payroll legislation
• Manage payroll calendars, audits, and year‑end processes (T4s, W‑2s, etc.)
• Partner with Finance on audits, reporting, and accruals
• Lead payroll integration for acquisitions and onboarding of new employees
• Maintain strong internal controls and audit readiness
• Lead, mentor, and develop a team of 5 payroll staff
• Identify automation and efficiency opportunities in payroll processes
