Job Description
Senior Law Clerk or Senior Paralegal – Joint Capital Markets and Wealth Management
What is the opportunity?

As a Senior Law Clerk or Senior Paralegal – Joint Capital Markets and Wealth Management, you will provide support to the Capital Markets and Wealth Management legal teams of RBC Law Group using a high degree of analytical, communication and organizational skills, focusing on transactional and regulatory documentation for Global Markets, Global Investment Banking, Corporate Banking, Asset Management and Distribution businesses. You will build effective relationships with business and functional partners and help to ensure compliance with internal policies and procedures.

What will you do?
  • Review and negotiate all non-disclosure agreements for Global Markets, Global Investment Banking, and Corporate Banking.
  • Draft, update, and maintain all Canadian corporate powers of attorney for Capital Markets entities.
  • Review trading-related documentation for Global Markets in North America, including legal opinions, electronic trading agreements, internal service level agreements, powers of attorney, and other corporate supporting documents.
  • Maintain Capital Markets template legal documentation.
  • Renew permits and make regulatory filings for the Commodities business.
  • Assist with reviewing, revising, updating, and tracking issues for securities offering documents, client account agreements, regulatory disclosures, and investment-related marketing materials.
  • Assess the impact of regulatory developments on Capital Markets and Wealth Management businesses, and assist with cross-border frameworks and policies for distributing securities in foreign jurisdictions.
  • Collaborate with Compliance partners on legal disclaimers.

  • Strong problem-solving, communication, and decision-making skills.
  • Desire to build effective relationships with internal partners.
Nice-to-have
  • Paralegal designation or equivalent experience/education.
  • Bilingual (English/French) is an asset.
  • Familiarity with derivatives documentation, offering documents for mutual funds, investment products, SEDAR+, client agreements, and disclosures.
