About the Role

Reporting to the Occupational Health Director, the Senior Occupational Health Advisor plays a key role in managing the Integrated Disability Management Process and promoting our Health and Wellness initiatives. You will handle WCB claims, medical leaves, and disability leaves across Canada and the USA, advising on return-to-work strategies and coordinating plans within legal and workplace frameworks.

Key Responsibilities:
  1. Manage disability claims to resolution by developing outcome-focused case management plans.
  2. Assess and adjust return-to-work plans based on medical documentation; identify barriers and negotiate modifications.
  3. Liaise with healthcare providers, insurers, and treatment teams to facilitate return-to-work plans.
  4. Review insurer correspondence to ensure decision appropriateness.
  5. Identify additional assessment needs and support requirements.
  6. Gather relevant data, analyze facts, and make fitness-for-work decisions.
  7. Develop and deliver training on health, wellness, and disability management topics.
  8. Stay informed on relevant legislation and standards.
  9. Coordinate COVID-19 related initiatives.
  10. Plan and promote health and wellness programs.
  11. Prioritize customer service, attention to detail, and continuous improvement.
  12. Maintain reports and tracking systems.
Qualifications and Experience:
  1. Post-secondary diploma in a health-related field is preferred.
  2. CDMP designation or equivalent is required; HSA/NCSO or similar is an asset.
  3. At least 5 years of experience in case management and return-to-work planning.
  4. Strong knowledge of disability management best practices.
  5. Experience in the construction industry is an asset.
  6. Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite.
  7. Understanding of medical terminology related to the position.
  8. Excellent decision-making, communication, and conflict resolution skills.
  9. Ability to build positive relationships and prioritize tasks effectively.
  10. Commitment to ethical conduct, privacy, and confidentiality.
  11. Knowledge of Safety Management and Service Desk systems is beneficial.
