Job summary

Placements24 is seeking an experienced Senior Network Administrator to manage and maintain our client's critical network infrastructure in Kimberley, Canada. The role focuses on stability, performance, and security of LANs, WANs, and wireless networks.

You will design, implement, troubleshoot, and document network systems, ensuring reliable services for all users. A strong problem-solving mindset and hands-on expertise with major vendors is essential.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in IT/CS or equivalent experience.
  • Minimum 5 years in network administration.
  • Experience with TCP/IP, DNS, DHCP, OSPF/BGP.
  • CCNA, CCNP or CompTIA Network+ desirable.

Responsibilities

  • Install, configure, and maintain routers, switches, firewalls, and VPNs.
  • Monitor performance and troubleshoot network issues.
  • Implement and manage network security measures.
  • Develop and maintain network diagrams, configurations, and procedures.
  • Plan upgrades and expansions to meet evolving business needs.
  • Provide technical support to users and IT staff.

About the Role

Our client is seeking an experienced Senior Network Administrator to manage and maintain their critical network infrastructure in Kimberley . This role is responsible for ensuring the stability, integrity, and performance of the company's network systems, including LANs, WANs, and wireless networks. You will be involved in network design, implementation, troubleshooting, and security, playing a vital role in keeping the organization connected and operational. The ideal candidate is adept at managing complex network environments and possesses strong problem-solving skills, ensuring reliable network services for all users.

Key Responsibilities
  • Install, configure, and maintain network hardware and software components, including routers, switches, firewalls, and VPNs.
  • Monitor network performance and troubleshoot network-related issues, ensuring optimal uptime and connectivity.
  • Implement and manage network security measures to protect against unauthorized access and cyber threats.
  • Develop and maintain network documentation, including diagrams, configurations, and procedures.
  • Plan and execute network upgrades and expansions to meet evolving business needs.
  • Provide technical support and guidance to users and IT staff on network-related matters.
Requirements
  • Bachelor's degree in Information Technology, Computer Science, or a related field, or equivalent work experience.
  • Minimum of 5 years of experience in network administration and management.
  • Strong knowledge of network protocols (TCP/IP, DNS, DHCP), routing protocols (OSPF, BGP), and network security principles.
  • Hands-on experience with network hardware from major vendors (e.g., Cisco, Juniper).
  • Experience with network monitoring tools and Wi-Fi technologies.
  • Relevant certifications such as CCNA, CCNP, or CompTIA Network+ are highly desirable.
