Job Description

Sedgman is looking for a Senior Mechanical Engineer to join our team in Vancouver to plan and coordinate complex engineering design assignments involving technical specifications and detailed planning.

What does the role involve?

1. Define and recommend design methods, specifications, and performance standards for new projects.
2. Undertake or supervise the preparation of feasibility studies, surveys, reports, design layouts, system diagrams, specifications, bill of quantities, materials lists, and cost estimates.
3. Provide drafting staff with necessary information to produce detailed drawings.
4. Conduct site inspections and liaise with suppliers, clients, consultants, or commissioning engineers regarding design, installation, construction, and commissioning.
5. Ensure project KPIs related to time and cost are met, monitor design effectiveness, scheduling, resource requirements, and review compliance with project plans and client expectations.
6. Contribute to periodic reporting on project progress, resource needs, budget versus costs, priorities, and team needs.
7. Ensure review processes are completed, and designs are accurate and compliant with relevant codes and standards.
8. Follow Change Management processes for engineering design.
9. Perform estimating, budgeting, and basic document control.
10. Be flexible to travel to site as required.

What We Are Looking For

1. Bachelor of Engineering
2. Minimum 7 years’ experience in design, consultancy, or operational environments in engineering.
3. Experience in coal, lithium, and/or metals industries.
4. Experience in heavy industry environments.
5. Peng Accreditation.
6. Project management experience.
7. Skills in MS Office, MS Access, MS Project, Helix software.
8. Experience designing at least two of the following: Platework, Piping, or Chutes for industrial facilities.

The salary offered will consider education, experience, skills, location, and market conditions, ranging from 110,000.00 to 170,000.00.
