Job summary

Innovative Automation, located in Barrie, Ontario, is seeking Intermediate & Senior Mechanical Designers to transform customer ideas into industry-leading automation solutions. You will design and develop capital tooling and processes, coordinating with sales and vendors to ensure feasibility and safety.

The role requires 5+ years in industrial automation and SolidWorks proficiency, plus leadership experience.

Qualifications

• Bachelor or diploma in Mechanical Engineering or equivalent.
• 5+ years designing Industrial Automation custom machinery with leadership experience.
• 5+ years of SolidWorks design experience.
• Good understanding of Assembly processes (Welding, Dispensing, Pressing, Fastening, Handling).
• Knowledge of GD&T ASME Y14.5 and Safety Codes.
• Experience conducting Machine Safety Risk Assessments.
• Strong communication, presentation and problem-solving skills.

Responsibilities

• Collaborate with Sales team and Customer to understand project requirements and machine concepts.
• Verify component selections with vendors.
• Create 3D CAD models for custom equipment using SolidWorks and engineering theory.
• Coordinate design process with Junior and Contractor resources (up to 10 during large projects).
• Review designs for scope, functionality, and manufacturability.
• Ensure project deliverables meet schedule and scope with Project Manager.
