Job summary

Adescor, backed by Parmerit Inc., seeks an intermediate/senior Mechanical Designer to design, prototype, test, and refine new products and machinery at its Strathroy facility in Ontario.

You will report to the Mechanical Engineering Manager and contribute across the product lifecycle, collaborating with manufacturing, procurement, and suppliers to deliver practical, scalable designs.

Qualifications

  • 5–8+ years of progressive mechanical design experience in automation or industrial equipment.
  • Experience leading design scope from concept through production with real-world manufacturing.
  • Proven ability to deliver high-quality, reliable designs on time and within cost targets.
  • Strong understanding of machining, fabrication, welding and DFx principles.
  • Experience in engineering analysis and validation, including critical design calculations (FEA preferred).
  • Comfort working cross-functionally with manufacturing, procurement and suppliers.

Responsibilities

  • Design, develop, and improve machinery and products that meet requirements, standards, timelines, and cost objectives.
  • Create and maintain CAD drawings: part, fabrication, assembly, layout, schematic, detail, and proposal drawings.
  • Support product lifecycle, including design revisions and engineering change processes.
  • Apply sound engineering principles to ensure scalable, maintainable, manufacturable, and reliable designs.
  • Prepare engineering calculations, conduct testing, and verify design performance.
  • Develop standardized design elements, libraries, and documentation.
  • Provide technical support for process improvement initiatives across the organization.
  • Collaborate with Quoting, Procurement, Manufacturing, Service, and suppliers for project execution.
  • Source and evaluate components with suppliers to support design and production needs.
  • Take ownership of projects from concept through implementation with proactive continuous improvement.

The Opportunity

Adescor is seeking a Mechanical Designer (intermediate/senior level) that will be responsible for carrying out a variety of engineering duties including designing, researching, prototyping, and testing new products/designs.

This role in on-site position and reporting to the Mechanical Engineering Manager.

This is a newly created role driven by continued growth and expansion across our operations.

What You'll Be Responsible For
  • Design, develop, and continuously improve high-quality machinery and products that meet customer requirements, engineering standards, timelines, and cost objectives.
  • Create and maintain detailed CAD drawings, including part, fabrication, assembly, layout, schematic, detail, and proposal drawings.
  • Support the complete product lifecycle, including design revisions, upgrades, configuration management, and engineering change processes.
  • Apply sound engineering principles to ensure designs are scalable, maintainable, manufacturable, and reliable.
  • Prepare and validate engineering calculations, conduct testing, and verify design performance.
  • Develop and maintain standardized design elements, libraries, and technical documentation.
  • Provide technical expertise and support process improvement initiatives across the organization.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams, including Quoting, Procurement, Manufacturing, Assembly, Service, and suppliers, to ensure successful project execution.
  • Source and evaluate components with suppliers to support design and production requirements.
  • Take ownership of projects from concept through implementation, using strong technical judgment, attention to detail, problem-solving skills, and a proactive approach to continuous improvement.
What You Bring
  • Post-secondary degree or diploma in Mechanical Engineering, Mechatronics Engineering, or a related field
  • 5-8+ years of progressive experience in mechanical design, with a focus on custom machinery, automation, or industrial equipment
  • Advanced proficiency in SolidWorks, SolidWorks PDM, and AutoCAD, with the ability to independently develop complex assemblies, detailed drawings, and complete design packages
  • Demonstrated experience leading or owning design scope from concept through to production, including real-world implementation in a manufacturing environment
  • Proven track record of delivering high-quality, reliable designs that meet performance requirements, timelines, and cost targets
  • Strong understanding of manufacturing processes, including machining, fabrication, and welding and consistent application of design for manufacturability (DFM) and design for assembly (DFA) principles
  • Advanced capability in engineering analysis and validation, including performing, interpreting, and justifying critical design calculations (FEA experience preferred)
  • Experience managing multiple concurrent design priorities with a high degree of autonomy, while maintaining organization and meeting deadlines
  • Hands-on experience integrating pneumatic, hydraulic, and electrical/control systems into mechanical designs
  • Demonstrated ability to identify and implement design improvements, including standardization, cost reduction, and performance optimization
  • Comfortable working cross-functionally with manufacturing, procurement, suppliers, and assembly teams to ensure practical and executable designs
  • Experience working in a similar manufacturing or industrial environment is considered an asset
  • Background in industrial equipment, automation, or pipe processing systems
  • Familiarity with PLC/HMI environments and integrated control systems
