Job summary

StackTeck Systems Ltd. in Concord, Ontario, seeks a Senior Mechanical Designer to lead the design and implementation of robotic automation in the injection molding industry. You will collaborate with a small team of designers/engineers and support from procurement, service and controls groups.

The role requires 5–10 years in mechanical design for manufacturing automation and strong SolidWorks skills (2D/3D) plus SolidWorks PDM. Injection molding knowledge is a plus.

Qualifications

  • Post-Secondary education – Completion of College or University in Mechanical Engineering/Design including Mechatronics, Industrial, and Electromechanical disciplines.
  • Minimum 5-10 years’ experience as a Mechanical Designer in manufacturing automation, robotics and/or machinery.
  • Extensive experience in SolidWorks, (Both 2D and 3D).
  • Experience in SolidWorks PDM.
  • Injection Molding knowledge is an asset.
  • In-Mold Labelling knowledge is an asset.
  • Strong communication and computer skills.

Responsibilities

  • Work closely with the Quoting/Mechanical & Controls Engineering/Procurement/Service teams to design, and support automation cells in the plastics injection molding industry.
  • Generate automation cell layouts, detail drawings, shop drawings, BOMs, material selection, and technical documentation packages (Such as user manuals, spare parts lists, etc.)
  • Able to autonomously select, size, design, and implement pneumatics, induction and servo drive systems based on dynamic analysis.
  • Provide technical guidance and participate in the performance reviews of the engineering team.
  • Some travel may be required.

Job description

StackTeck, with over five decades of mold building innovation, is a leading source of high productivity tooling solutions for the injection molding industry. StackTeck supplies a wide range of injection molds and IML automation used to produce plastic parts in applications such as caps, closures, medical, PET preforms, and thinwall packaging; as well as complete system integrations including IML.

Working with a small team of designers/engineers/service technicians, the Senior Mechanical Designer will play a critical role in the design and implementation of robotic automation systems in the injection molding industry. The right candidate will possess extensive knowledge and experience from conceptualizing, to designing, manufacturing, assembly, and support of such systems. This individual may have had experience working for other automation or machine builders, notably in the plastics packaging industry. This position in located at our Automation facility in Concord, ON.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

TECHNICAL KNOWLEDGE/EXPERIENCE

  • Post-Secondary education – Completion of College or University in Mechanical Engineering/Design including Mechatronics, Industrial, and Electromechanical disciplines.
  • Minimum 5-10 years’ experience as a Mechanical Designer in manufacturing automation, robotics and/or machinery.
  • Extensive experience in SolidWorks, (Both 2D and 3D).
  • Experience in SolidWorks PDM.
  • Injection Molding knowledge is an asset.
  • In-Mold Labelling knowledge is an asset.
  • Strong communication and computer skills.

The expected pay range for this role is $35.00 to $50.00 per hour. Individual compensation will be determined based on experience, skills, job-related factors, and shift worked.
