Responsibilities
- Champion the growth, development and management of the Risk Services practice in the firm that complements and is supported by the firm’s overall strategy for growth.
- Actively participate in business development efforts, working collaboratively with senior leadership, partners and marketing professionals to target and build relationships with client prospects.
- Work with clients on a variety of local and national projects, managing risk‑based engagements including internal audit projects, procedures to evaluate and test operating effectiveness of financial reporting controls to support CEO/CFO certification (i.e., SOX/NI 52‑109), enterprise risk management, fraud risk management, IT audit and assurance and other risk/control‑based engagements.
- Develop and maintain productive relationships with clients, gaining an understanding of clients’ industry and issues.
- Develop and maintain productive relationships with colleagues, managing/supporting less experienced colleagues by overseeing their work and supporting their growth and development.
- Contribute to new business development by understanding and identifying needs of existing and prospective clients through cross‑functional interaction with other Grant Thornton service lines.
Qualifications
- Six (6+) years minimum of experience in performing control and risk projects (financial, operational, internal audit, IT, etc.).
- Post‑secondary degree in a relevant program area (e.g., business management, commerce, accounting, information technology).
- Relevant professional designations are an asset (CPA, CISA, CFE, CIA, and/or CRMA).
- Excellent written and verbal communication.
- Excellent project management and strong time management skills.
- Strong attention to detail and well‑developed analytical and unstructured problem‑solving skills.
- Confident and team‑focused, able to interact well with peers and clients, and able to rally resources and work with others to meet stakeholder needs.
- Ability to work independently and interview professionals at all levels.
- Interest in being challenged and pushing yourself to work outside your comfort zone.
