Job summary

Doman Building Materials Group is seeking a Senior Manager, Procurement to lead strategic procurement and sourcing across Canada and the US. You will develop and execute strategies to optimize costs, mitigate supply risk, and support growth while driving supplier performance and leading contract negotiations.

You will foster strong business partnerships and ensure timely delivery of quality goods and services, aligning procurement with inventory objectives and organizational goals.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Business, Supply Chain, Commerce, Finance, or related field.
  • Professional procurement designation (SCMP, CPSM, CPPB, or equivalent) considered an asset.

Responsibilities

  • Oversee the strategic purchasing function across DOMAN's Canadian and US operations.
  • Analyze monthly purchasing, spend, and procurement reports to identify trends, opportunities, and areas for improvement.
  • Develop and implement procurement strategies and processes to optimize efficiencies and realize cost savings.
  • Identify, evaluate, and manage relationships with suppliers to ensure timely delivery of quality goods and services.
  • Lead procurement activities, including vendor selection and contract negotiations, to secure the best overall value without compromising quality or service levels.
  • Identify potential risks in our supply chain and develop strategies to mitigate them, such as diversifying suppliers or establishing contingency plans.
  • Monitor and control costs throughout our supply chain to improve profitability and competitiveness.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional stakeholders to ensure procurement strategies align with operational requirements, inventory objectives, and organizational goals.
  • Establish key performance indicators (KPIs) to measure and evaluate the effectiveness of supply chain and purchasing operations.

Job description

Reporting to the CFO, the Senior Manager, Procurement is responsible for leading strategic procurement and sourcing operations across the Company. This role develops and executes procurement and supply chain strategies that optimize costs, create operational efficiencies, mitigate supply risk, and support the organization's growth objectives. The role will drive supplier performance and lead contract negotiations while fostering strong business partnerships and ensuring the timely delivery of quality goods and services.

EXPECTED CONTRIBUTIONS
  • Oversee the strategic purchasing function across DOMAN's Canadian and US operations.

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES
  • 5 to 8 years of progressive procurement, sourcing, supply chain, or vendor management experience.
  • Strong knowledge of procurement, strategic sourcing, contract negotiation, and supplier management practices.
  • Demonstrated ability to identify and track cost savings, mitigate supply risks, and drive value through sourcing initiatives.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities, including experience with spend analysis and data-driven decision-making.
  • Demonstrated ability to build strong partnerships and effectively influence stakeholders at all levels of the organization without direct reporting authority.
  • Strong project management, organizational, and prioritization skills, with the ability to manage multiple initiatives simultaneously.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills, including the ability to present recommendations and negotiate with suppliers.
EDUCATION
  • Bachelor's degree in Business, Supply Chain, Commerce, Finance, or a related field.
  • Professional procurement designation (SCMP, CPSM, CPPB, or equivalent) considered an asset.
COMPENSATION AND BENEFITS

The typical hiring range for this position is $120,000 - $145,000 annually. The base pay offered is based on geographical location and may vary depending on the applicant's job-related knowledge, skills, experience, and internal equity. Similar positions located in other geographical locations may not necessarily receive the same salary range. The compensation information is an estimate and provided to meet with applicable provincial Pay Transparency legislation.
