Job summary

Doman Building Materials is seeking an Account Manager to support customers across Southwestern Ontario. You will manage and grow existing accounts, represent all product lines, and source new business opportunities in a dynamic sales environment.

Ideal candidates bring outside sales experience, strong relationship skills with retailers and specifiers, and the ability to discuss technical product details. This full-time role travels within the territory and offers a comprehensive benefits

You combine your excellent presentation skills and prior outside sales experience to drive growth in your territory. You enjoy partnering with manufacturers' representatives to develop and implement strategic growth in each of the product lines.

You are diligent with your call planning to ensure you are optimizing time with customers. Superior communication skills, a technical aptitude, and knowledge of the building material sector is your winning combination.

Requirements
SKILLS YOU NEED TO H
  • Strong experience building relationships with and selling to senior-level managers, owners, contract sellers, and buying decision makers.
  • Understand the sales activities that are revenue generating and non-revenue generating.
  • Strong negotiation, problem-solving, and deal structuring skills.
  • Maintain a positive and enthusiastic attitude even in adverse situations.
ADDITIONAL SKILLS THAT ARE GOOD TO HAVE
  • Building industry or trade experience.
  • High level understanding of construction and building methods.
  • Excellent communication skills at a capacity to influence sales, in person and over the phone, with customers at various levels.
  • Able to lift up to 50 pounds or 23 kilos occasionally to refresh and maintain product displays.
EDUCATION
  • High school diploma is a minimum requirement.
  • Post secondary education in business or building industry is preferred.
  • Formal sales training is an asset.
Benefits
COMPENSATION AND BENEFITS
  • The typical hiring range for this position is $73,000 - $82,000 annually. The base pay offered is based on geographical location and may vary depending on the applicant's job-related knowledge, skills, experience, and internal equity. Similar positions located in other geographical locations may not necessarily receive the same salary range. The compensation information is an estimate and provided to meet with applicable provincial Pay Transparency legislation.

Travel:
  • 80% daily travel (driving) within the territory with occasional overnight stays. This territory covers Waterloo to Windsor. Communities supported include, but not limited to: London, St. Thomas, Sarnia, Tillsonburg and Tavistock.
  • You will need a valid Canadian driver's license with a clean driving record. Maintaining a clean driving record is a condition of employment.
  • This role may travel to the United States for training purposes, you need a valid passport.

Employment Status: Full-time, year round

Work Location: This role is part of the Acton sales team. Ideally you are centrally located in the territory.
