Title: Senior Manager, Market Data and Vendor Management

As the Senior Manager, you will contribute to the development and execution of market data solutions and strategies for investment management within Scotia Global Asset Management (SGAM). This role focuses on market data administration, cost optimization, vendor relationship management, and compliance and controls. Additionally, you will collaborate with internal teams to enhance service delivery, ensure financial efficiency, and align operations with organizational objectives of the investment management group.

In this role, you will:

  1. Market Data Strategy and Solutions
    • Support the implementation of market data strategies in collaboration with business stakeholders.
    • Identify opportunities for enhanced service and cost savings through vendor consolidation, new technologies, and demand management.
    • Assist in integrating disparate market data processes into a centralized operating model.
    • Stay updated on industry trends to ensure objectives are met.
  2. Vendor and Contract Management
    • Maintain and support strategic relationships with key vendors to ensure high-quality service delivery.
    • Assist in the negotiation and renewal of vendor contracts to secure favorable terms and reduce costs.
    • Monitor vendor performance, ensuring compliance with enterprise policies for Third-Party Risk Management (TPRM), Global Procurement, and Information Security, legal and compliance.
  3. Market Data Operations and Administration
    • Centralize and maintain market data inventory, including users, costs, contracts, and services.
    • Manage processes for user setup, modifications, and removals to ensure efficient service delivery.
    • Oversee the timely reconciliation, approval, and payment of vendor invoices.
    • Resolve financial discrepancies and ensure adherence to organizational accounting standards.
  4. Budget Management and Reporting
    • Assist in creating transparent cost allocation models to ensure proper tracking and reporting.
    • Prepare periodic management reports and ad-hoc analyses to support executive decision-making.
    • Provide data and insights to facilitate team P&L, budget planning, and reporting processes led by the Business Planning and Operations team.
  5. Compliance and Risk Management
    • Ensure adherence to regulatory requirements, internal policies, and contractual obligations.
    • Collaborate with audit teams to provide necessary documentation and address identified risks.
    • Monitor changes to regulatory requirements and manage corresponding policy updates.
  6. Soft Dollar Management
    • Facilitate vendor invoice payments for soft-dollar programs, ensuring alignment with approved budgetary targets.
    • Support the Investment Management Business Planning and Operations team in the management and administration of the soft dollar program.
    • Support the reconciliation of vendor invoices and assist in the execution of soft dollar payments through systems like LiquidNet.

Do you have the skills and requirements that will enable you to succeed in this role? – We’d love to work with you if have:

  • Bachelor's degree in Business Administration, Finance, or a related field.
  • 10+ years of experience in vendor management or procurement, with at least 5 years focused on market data within capital markets or asset management.
  • Strong knowledge of market data operations and the information needs of investment management organizations.
  • Experience working with market data providers, including those offering financial data services, credit rating agencies, benchmark index providers, and market intelligence platforms.
  • Excellent negotiation, communication, and project management skills.
  • Ability to manage priorities effectively in a dynamic and fast-paced environment.
