Senior Manager, Environmental Sustainability

Introduction

We are hiring a Senior Manager, Environmental Sustainability, for our food manufacturing client based in Mississauga, Ontario. Reporting to the Senior Vice President, Engineering, the Senior Manager is responsible for implementing, designing, and continuously improving the environmental management program. This role supports the company’s plants in maintaining environmental permits to ensure compliance with regulations and develops sustainability initiatives to enhance operational excellence.

Responsibilities

• Guide and support plant management on Environmental & Sustainability programs.
• Develop benchmarks for sustainability initiatives to promote continuous improvement.
• Ensure compliance with federal, provincial, and municipal environmental regulations.
• Identify trends and areas for improvement, communicating findings to leadership and plant teams.
• Develop and deliver environmental training at the plant level.
• Lead sustainability audits at the plant level.
• Collect and analyze data related to the sustainability program.
• Prepare reports to support sustainability efforts.
• Maintain knowledge of current environmental regulations.
• Participate in corporate environmental initiatives to ensure consistent site representation.
• Create and maintain an environmental calendar.

Requirements

• Degree in Environmental or Industrial Engineering.
• Certified Environmental Professional (CEP) or similar credentials.
• 8+ years in environmental sustainability roles within manufacturing, preferably in food industry.
• Strong knowledge of interprovincial environmental regulations.
• Experience with cost-saving environmental projects.
• Familiarity with environmental management systems like ISO 14001.
• Excellent collaboration, analytical, and consensus-building skills.
• Ability to travel 40-50%, locally and nationwide.
