Job summary

Doane Grant Thornton in Thunder Bay seeks a Senior Manager, Assurance to lead audits and advisory work for diverse clients. You’ll manage engagements, guide teams, and drive confidence with owner-managed businesses in a public practice setting.

With 8+ years of experience and a CPA, you’ll mentor staff, ensure quality, and contribute to development. The firm offers competitive compensation and benefits, and teams are expected in the office four days per week with flexible options.

Qualifications

• CPA designation (or equivalent) is required.
• At least 8 years accounting-related experience, preferably in public practice.
• Superior technical expertise in accounting and auditing; privately held business experience is a plus.
• Commitment to quality, excellence and ongoing professional growth.
• Excellent written and verbal communication and interpersonal skills.
• Strong management skills in scheduling, organizing, supervising and multi-team management.
• Self-motivated, results-oriented with ability to work independently and with teams.
• Interest in coaching and development with a focus on growth.

Responsibilities

• Lead and execute a wide range of audits, reviews, and compilations.
• Work with owner-managed private businesses within a public practice scope.
• Analyze and review corporate and personal income tax returns.
• Provide advisory on complex accounting and auditing matters.
• Lead client engagements across varying reporting frameworks.
• Contribute to new business development using credibility.
• Coach and mentor junior team members and manage performance.
• Maximize engagement profitability by effective resource utilization.
