Job summary

Cogir Senior Living is seeking a Cook to prepare and deliver meals for residents, guests and staff across our retirement residences. The role emphasizes safety, integrity, and adherence to dietary guidelines within a healthcare setting.

You will review menus, follow standardized recipes, and ensure meals meet quality and budget expectations while maintaining daily kitchen routines and participating in required trainings.

Qualifications

• Must have experience in large quantity food preparation, preferably in healthcare/retirement settings.
• Knowledge of Provincial Food Premises Regulation and Canada's Food Guide to Healthy Eating.
• Experience with special and therapeutic diets.
• Able to lift/transfer heavy items and stand for long shifts.
• Second language skills are an asset.
• Must provide and maintain a Vulnerable Sector Check or be willing to obtain one.

Responsibilities

• To prepare and/or be responsible for the preparation and delivery of all foods for residents, guests and employees.
• To review menus and production sheets and prepare meals attractively.
• To ensure use of proper food handling techniques.
• To complete daily temperature audits and record findings.
• To prepare and serve foods for therapeutic/special diets according to menus.
• To follow daily production charts and recipes within budget.
• To comply with health, safety and dietary policies.
• To participate in staff meetings and training and uphold Residents’ Rights.
