Job summary

Cogir Senior Living is seeking a Cook to prepare and deliver meals for residents, guests, and staff in a healthcare-focused kitchen. You will review menus, follow recipes, and ensure food safety while working within budgets and schedules.

Responsibilities include daily temperature audits, accommodating therapeutic diets, and active participation in quality improvement and training initiatives within a retirement environment.

Qualifications

• Must have a Food Handler's Certificate.
• Red Seal Certificate preferred.
• Experience in large quantity food preparation, preferably in healthcare or retirement setting.
• Knowledge of Provincial Food Premises Regulation and Canada's Food Guide to Healthy Eating.
• Knowledge of and experience with special/therapeutic diets.
• Must be physically able to lift/transfer heavy items and stand long shifts.
• Second language is an asset.
• Vulnerable Sector Check/Criminal Background Check required or willingness to obtain.

Responsibilities

• Prepare and deliver all foods for residents, guests and employees.
• Review menus and production sheets; prepare and serve meals attractively.
• Ensure proper food handling techniques.
• Perform daily temperature audits for fridges/freezers/storerooms and record findings.
• Prepare and serve foods for therapeutic diets per planned menus.
• Adhere to production charts/recipes within budget.
• Follow health and safety regulations and dietary policies.
• Participate in staff meetings, training, and quality improvement activities.
