Job summary

Cogir Senior Living in Burlington, Ontario, is seeking an Active Living Aide to support meaningful resident programs under the Active Living Manager.

You will help plan and run activities, document participation, and maintain positive communication with residents and staff. A recreation/gerontology diploma and experience with seniors are preferred; valid driver’s license and a current Vulnerable Sector Check are required.

Qualifications

• College diploma in Recreation, Leisure Studies, Gerontology or equivalent.
• Experience working with seniors.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office Applications.
• Excellent oral and written communication skills.
• Valid provincial driver’s license to transport residents by van.
• Vulnerable Sector Check completed within six months or willingness to obtain.

Responsibilities

• Assist in planning, organization and implementation of meaningful programs for residents with the Active Living Manager and Executive Director.
• Maintain records including assessments and evaluations of programs and participant engagement.
• Foster effective communication with residents, families, volunteers and staff.
• Participate in in-service education to stay updated on elder care trends.
• Attend team meetings to align activities with resident interests.
• Facilitate residents' outings and assist with activity level assessments.
• Prepare, carry out and evaluate daily activities; assist with meal services as required.
• Work in a position of trust with vulnerable adults.
