Job summary

Cogir Senior Living in Ontario seeks an Active Living Aide to assist in planning, organizing and implementing meaningful programs for residents under the supervision of the Active Living Manager.

The role requires a college diploma in Recreation or Gerontology, prior experience with seniors, and proficiency in MS Office. A valid driver’s license is needed to transport residents; a Vulnerable Sector Check is required.

Qualifications

• College diploma in Recreation, Leisure Studies, Gerontology or equivalent is required.
• Previous experience working with seniors.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office Applications (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook).
• Excellent oral and written communication skills.
• An energetic, compassionate person who enjoys working with the elderly.
• Valid provincial driver’s license to transport residents by van.
• Must provide and obtain a Vulnerable Sector Check.

Responsibilities

• Assist in planning, organization and implementation of meaningful programs for residents.
• Maintain department records including assessments and evaluations of planned programs.
• Maintain effective communication with residents, families, volunteers and staff.
• Attend in-service education to stay informed on elder care trends.
• Participate in team meetings to plan programs.
• Assist with meal services as required.
• Uphold ethics, morality and integrity in all duties.
