Job summary

Cogir Senior Living is seeking an Active Living Aide to assist in planning, organizing and implementing meaningful programs for residents across retirement residences in Canada. You will work under the Active Living Manager and Executive Director, coordinating activities and supporting daily living experiences for seniors.

The role requires a college diploma related to recreation or gerontology, experience with seniors, and proficient use of Microsoft Office.

Qualifications

• College diploma in Recreation, Leisure Studies, Gerontology or equivalent is required.
• Previous experience working with seniors.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office Applications (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook).
• Excellent oral and written communication skills.
• An energetic, compassionate person who enjoys working with the elderly.
• Valid provincial driver’s license to transport residents by van (Class 4; Class F).
• Must provide a complete and current Vulnerable Sector Check or be willing to obtain one.

Responsibilities

• Assist in planning, organization and implementation of meaningful programs for residents, in collaboration with the Active Living Manager & Executive Director.
• Maintain department records including assessments and evaluations of programs and resident participation.
• Maintain effective communication with residents, families, volunteers and staff.
• Attend in-service education to stay informed on elderly care trends.
• Participate in team meetings to plan activities based on resident interests.
• Facilitate scheduled outings for residents.
• Assist with assessment of resident activity levels and daily activities.
• Assist with meal services as required.
• Work in a position of trust with vulnerable adults.
