Job summary

Cogir Senior Living is seeking an Active Living Aide to assist in planning, organizing and implementing meaningful programs for residents. Reporting to the Active Living Manager, you will collaborate with the Executive Director and care teams to enrich daily life for seniors.

The role emphasizes compassionate interaction, activity assessment, and supporting meal service as needed, with a focus on safety and person-centered care in a retirement setting.

Qualifications

• College diploma in Recreation, Leisure Studies, Gerontology or equivalent.
• Previous experience working with seniors.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office Applications (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook).
• Excellent oral and written communication skills.
• An energetic, compassionate person who enjoys working with the elderly.
• Valid provincial driver's license to transport residents by van.

Responsibilities

• Assist in planning, organizing and implementing meaningful programs for residents, with the Active Living Manager & Executive Director.
• Maintains department records including assessments and evaluations of planned programs detailing participation.
• Maintains effective communication with residents, families, volunteers and staff about events.
• Attends in-service education to stay informed on elderly care trends.
• Participates in team meetings to plan programs with residents' interest in mind.
• Facilitates residents to scheduled and pre-arranged outings.
• Assists with assessment of individual resident activity levels.
• Prepares, carries out and evaluates daily activities.
• Assists with meal services as required.
• Work in a position of trust with residents.
• Uphold and promote the organization's values relating to ethics and integrity.
• Complete other duties as assigned.
