Job summary

Extendicare is seeking a part-time Recreation Aide in Ontario to help plan, organize and run meaningful programs for residents. You will collaborate with the Recreation Manager and Executive Director to assess activity levels, document participation, and support outings and daily activities.

The role requires a college diploma in Recreation or Gerontology, experience with seniors, and strong communication skills.

Qualifications

• College diploma in Recreation, Leisure Studies, Gerontology or equivalent required.
• Experience with seniors preferred.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook).
• Excellent oral and written communication skills."
• Energetic, compassionate person who enjoys working with the elderly."
• Valid provincial driver's license to transport residents by van.
• Must provide Vulnerable Sector Check (Criminal Background Check) or willingness to obtain one.

Responsibilities

• Assist in planning, organization and implementation of programs for residents.
• Maintain department records including assessments and evaluations of programs.
• Communicate with residents, families, volunteers and staff about events.
• Attend in-service education to stay updated on elder care trends.
• Participate in team meetings to plan activities with residents' interests.
• Assist with scheduled and pre-arranged outings and resident activity assessments.
• Prepare, carry out and evaluate daily activities.
• Assist with meals as required.
• Uphold Extendicare's ethics and code of conduct.
