DWF's Toronto office is seeking an experienced Litigation Associate (5–9 years’ call) to join our leading insurance defence team. You will handle own files, receive mentorship, and develop a long‑term practice within a collaborative environment.

Work on sophisticated matters, gain client exposure, and participate in Examinations for Discovery, mediations, and trials while collaborating with seasoned counsel. A strong route for career growth is offered.

Competenze

• 5–9 years of post‑call civil litigation experience.
• Experience in insurance defence litigation is preferred; strong civil litigation experience is acceptable.
• Familiarity with the Ontario Rules of Court and litigation procedures.

Responsibilities

As a member of our Ontario litigation team, you will:

• Manage and contribute to a variety of insurance defence and civil litigation matters
• Draft pleadings, briefs, applications, opinions and other litigation materials
• Conduct legal research and provide strategic recommendations

• Conduct Examinations for Discovery, mediations, motions and trials
• Contribute to the strategic management of complex and high‑profile matters
• Deliver exceptional client service standards through effective communication and file management
• Participate in professional development and business development activities that support practice growth

What will help you succeed in this role?

We are looking for a lawyer who brings:

• 5 - 9 years of post‑call civil litigation experience
• Experience in insurance defence litigation is preferred; candidates with strong civil litigation experience from other practice areas are encouraged to apply
• Familiarity with the Ontario Rules of Court and litigation procedures
• Strong legal research, drafting, and analytical skills
• Sound professional judgment and attention to detail

Salary

The salary for this position is $175,000 or greater annually; the salary offered is based upon year of call and is dependent upon skills and experience.
