The position focuses on sophisticated insurance defence and civil litigation matters, with opportunities for client exposure, strategic advocacy, and participation in trials and mediations within a collaborative team environment.

Qualifications

  • 2–4 years of post‑call civil litigation experience.
  • Experience in insurance defence litigation preferred; strong civil litigation background is welcome.

Responsibilities

  • Manage and contribute to a variety of insurance defence and civil litigation matters.
  • Draft pleadings, briefs, applications, opinions and other litigation materials.
  • Conduct legal research and provide strategic recommendations.
  • Assist with and, as experience permits, conduct questionings, mediations, and chambers applications.

Responsibilities

As a member of our Alberta litigation team, you will:

  • Manage and contribute to a variety of insurance defence and civil litigation matters
  • Draft pleadings, briefs, applications, opinions and other litigation materials
  • Conduct legal research and provide strategic recommendations
  • Assist with and, as experience permits, conduct questionings, mediations, and chambers applications
  • Contribute to the strategic management of complex and high‑profile matters
  • Deliver exceptional client service standards through effective communication and file management
  • Participate in professional development and business development activities that support practice growth
What will help you succeed in this role?
  • 2–4 years of post‑call civil litigation experience
  • Experience in insurance defence litigation is preferred; candidates with strong civil litigation experience from other practice areas are encouraged to apply
  • Familiarity with the Alberta Rules of Court and litigation procedures
  • Strong legal research, drafting, and analytical skills
  • Sound professional judgment and attention to detail
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal
