DWF Law LLP in Calgary is seeking an experienced Litigation Associate (5-9 years’ call) to join our growing Alberta team. You will manage your own files, work with senior counsel, and develop a long-term practice in insurance defence and civil litigation.

You will contribute to complex matters, participate in hearings, mediations, and trials, and benefit from mentorship, professional development, and a collaborative, client-focused culture.

Qualifications

• 5 - 9 years of post-call civil litigation experience
• Experience in insurance defence litigation is preferred; candidates with strong civil litigation experience from other practice areas are encouraged to apply
• Familiarity with the Alberta Rules of Court and litigation procedures
• Strong legal research, drafting, and analytical skills
• Sound professional judgment and attention to detail
• Excellent communication and interpersonal
• Strong organizational skills and time management abilities
• A collaborative mindset and commitment to exceptional client service

Responsibilities

• Manage and contribute to a variety of insurance defence and civil litigation matters
• Draft pleadings, briefs, applications, opinions and other litigation materials
• Conduct legal research and provide strategic recommendations
• Conduct questionings, mediations, and chambers applications
• Contribute to the strategic management of complex and high‑profile matters
• Deliver exceptional client service standards through effective communication and file management
• Participate in professional development and business development activities that support practice growth
