Job summary

Innovate Calgary is seeking a Senior Innovation Manager to lead commercialization in Life & Medical Sciences within the Technology Transfer Office. You will manage high-impact portfolios, negotiate with industry partners, and drive strategic activities with autonomy.

You will mentor staff, support TTO leadership, and collaborate with university and external stakeholders to maximize societal impact and economic value.

Qualifications

• Demonstrated experience in negotiating licensing or research partnerships.
• Familiarity with CDN/US patent law and IP strategy.
• Excellent written and verbal communication; client relationships.
• Experience with university spin-out companies is a plus.

Responsibilities

• Identify invention opportunities from research and build leads.
• Assess patentability, market potential, and commercial viability.
• Negotiate and close licensing or collaboration agreements with industry partners.
• Develop commercialization and marketing strategies for portfolio technologies.
• Mentor junior colleagues and support TTO leadership.
