Job summary

Priceline is seeking an experienced Java Developer in Canada to help build high-performance cloud-native applications using Core Java, Spring Boot, and Kafka. You will work in a hybrid model with two days in-office, collaborating with a cross-functional Agile team to deliver real-time data solutions and robust services.

The role emphasizes observability (Splunk/New Relic), SQL analytics, and modern GenAI tooling to boost productivity, with a focus on customer value and team collaboration.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree or higher in Computer Science or equivalent work experience.
• 5+ years of software engineering and development experience.
• Expertise in Core Java and Spring Boot for building high-performance applications.
• Thorough SQL composition skills for querying and analysis.
• Experience with observability platforms (Splunk, New Relic) to troubleshoot and optimize performance.
• Familiarity with Kafka for event streaming.
• Openness to GenAI tools (Gemini, Cursor) to boost productivity.
• Proficiency with Git and Gitflow.
• Experience with Microservices, Kubernetes, and Docker is a big plus.
• Experience developing on Cloud (GCP and AWS).
• Demonstrated alignment with Priceline values: Customer, Innovation, Team, Accountability, Trust.

Responsibilities

• Contribute to critical projects that directly impact Priceline’s business strategy.
• Accelerate productivity using GenAI tools like Gemini and Cursor.
• Develop high-performance, cloud-native apps using Core Java, Spring Boot, and Kafka.
• Build low-latency, high-throughput services with CI/CD pipelines.
• Use SQL to collect and query data for real-time analysis.
• Leverage Splunk and New Relic to monitor trends and troubleshoot apps.
• Work in an Agile, cross-functional team focused on delivery.
• Understand codebase and business needs to implement changes.
• Collaborate and contribute technical solutions in team decisions.
