Job summary

BBA Consultants in Calgary is seeking a seasoned engineering consultant to lead instrumentation, control systems and automation scopes across multi-disciplinary projects. You will shape scope, budgets and delivery, while acting as a trusted technical interface with clients and supporting account development.

Qualifications

• Engineering degree in electrical, electronics, mechatronics, or instrumentation and controls.
• 15+ years of relevant consulting or industrial experience.
• Hands-on experience programming and commissioning control systems (ABB, Honeywell, Schneider/Modicon, Rockwell, etc.).
• Ability to prepare, review and interpret logic diagrams, functional specifications and control narratives.
• Experience with industrial networks (Ethernet/IP, Profibus, Modbus, etc.).
• Strong troubleshooting, commissioning and system integration experience.
• Experience delivering projects in mining, industrial or energy sectors.
• Willingness to travel to client sites locally and internationally.
• Excellent communication skills (spoken and written).
• Strong organizational skills and professional judgment.
• Registered with APEGA as a P.Eng.

Responsibilities

• Lead instrumentation, control system and automation scopes, including scope definition, budgets, schedules and delivery tracking.
• Serve as a primary technical interface with clients, building trusted relationships and supporting long-term account development.
• Prepare and review engineering deliverables (P&IDs, specifications, drawings, network and panel designs).
• Design, integrate, program and commission PLC, HMI, DCS, and industrial communication systems.
• Contribute to proposal development through scope definition, cost estimation, scheduling and technical positioning.
• Perform site support activities including inspections, troubleshooting, testing and commissioning in Canada and abroad.
