Agilus by Synergie is recruiting for an Instrumentation & Controls Designer in the Engineering sector in Calgary, Alberta.
We are seeking a Senior to Principal Instrumentation & Controls Designer to provide technical leadership and deliver high-quality I&C design solutions for major industrial projects. This role offers the opportunity to contribute across the full project lifecycle, from concept and FEED through detailed engineering, construction, and commissioning, while mentoring junior team members and collaborating with multidisciplinary project teams.

Responsibilities
- Coordinate design activities with process, electrical, mechanical, piping, and automation disciplines
- Provide technical leadership, mentoring, and guidance to design team members
- Support project planning, progress reporting, quality reviews, and design assurance activities
- Develop and review instrumentation and controls design deliverables across all project phases
- Prepare and review P&IDs, loop drawings, wiring diagrams, I/O lists, and control documentation
- Support procurement, vendor reviews, construction activities, and commissioning efforts
- Identify design risks, resolve technical issues, and manage design changes
- Participate in constructability, operability, maintainability, and process safety reviews
Requirements
- Hold an Engineering Technology, Design, or related technical qualification
- Demonstrate significant experience in Instrumentation & Controls design within industrial environments
- Possess strong expertise in developing and reviewing complex I&C deliverables
- Apply experience gained within EPC, engineering consulting, owner/operator, or major project organizations
- Interpret and coordinate technical drawings, schematics, and engineering documentation independently
- Participate in HAZOP, LOPA, and other process safety studies
- Communicate effectively with clients, vendors, project teams, and stakeholders
- Hold a CET or AScT designation or be eligible for registration, considered an asset
