Job summary

Metis Nation British Columbia (MNBC) is seeking a Senior Director, Human Resources, to lead MNBC’s HR strategy and operations from its Surrey, BC office. In this hybrid role, you will report to the COO and work with the CEO and leadership team to align HR strategy with MNBC’s goals.

You will guide labour relations, workforce planning, payroll, and benefits while ensuring policy consistency and legal compliance. The role requires strategic leadership and strong stakeholder engagement.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in HR, Business Administration, or related field.
• CPHR designation required, or eligible to obtain within a defined timeframe.
• Minimum ten years of progressive HR experience, incl. five years in a senior leadership role.
• Experience in unionized environments is an asset.
• Experience in workforce planning, job evaluation/classification, and organizational restructuring.
• Indigenous government/public-sector experience is an asset.

Responsibilities

• Lead the HR department, budget and staff at MNBC.
• Advise executives on employment relations, policy and risk management.
• Oversee labour relations, investigations and dispute resolution.
• Drive workforce planning, recruitment and onboarding improvements.
• Ensure compliance with BC employment standards and governance.
