Job summary

Alberta Precision Labs is seeking a Medical Laboratory Technologist II (Hematology) to coordinate daily operations, ensure quality control, and guide staff in a high-volume hematology department at Foothills Medical Centre in Calgary. You will validate procedures, monitor test accuracy, and lead training efforts while aligning with accreditation standards.

The role requires 3+ years hematology experience, MLT credential, and strong skills in instrument troubleshooting and data analysis.

Qualifications

• Completion of an accredited Medical Laboratory Technology (MLT) program.
• Active or eligible for registration and practice permit with the College of Medical Laboratory Technologists of Alberta (CMLTA).
• Minimum 3 years hematology experience within the last 5 years.
• Extensive knowledge of hematology and coagulation methodology and instrumentation specific to the Hematology department.
• Strong computer skills using MS Word, Excel, MS365, MS Teams, SharePoint and PowerPoint.
• Well-developed skills in prioritizing, organization, decision making and time management.
• Excellent written/verbal communication and analytical skills.
• Able to adapt quickly and effectively in a busy, high-demand testing department.
• Able to work independently and as a team member while leading by example.

Responsibilities

• Coordinate day-to-day operations and quality control in Hematology.
• Provide technical advice and problem solving for instruments.
• Lead training and competency development for staff and students.
• Monitor, prioritize and assign work to MLTs while ensuring coverage."
• Liaise with vendors and CSPM to resolve instrument issues.
