Job summary

Alberta Precision Labs in Edmonton Base Lab, Core Lab Hematology, seeks a part-time Medical Laboratory Technologist I to join a high-volume hematology team. You will perform daily processing, testing and reporting of diagnostic specimens in a fast-paced environment.

Requirements include completion of an accredited MLT program and registration eligibility with CMLTA. Experience with high-volume hematology and familiarity with DxH900, IL TOP, Cellavision, and Alethia are assets.

Qualifications

• Completion of an accredited Medical Laboratory Technology (MLT) program.
• Active or eligible for registration and practice permit with the College of Medical Laboratory Technologists of Alberta (CMLTA).
• Experience within the past 24 months working as a Medical Laboratory Technologist in high volume Hematology, or student experience within the past 24 months.

Responsibilities

• Daily processing, testing, results analysis and reporting of diagnostic samples.
• Perform routine and specialized procedures in the processing of specimens used in diagnosis, treatment and research.

The Core Lab department at the Edmonton Hub Lab consists of distinct testing areas for Chemistry, Hematology, and Urinalysis. In Core Lab Hematology you will experience a high volume (currently over 6000 samples), well organized and efficient environment with strict quality control guidelines in place. The department relies heavily on teamwork to meet operational requirements. Core Lab staff participate in the mentorship and training of students from NAIT and the University of Alberta. The department has a challenging environment where you can demonstrate problem solving, troubleshooting, decision making and time management skills.Please note: The consequential vacancy process may be used to fill any resulting vacancies for Internal candidates.
