Job summary

Royal Alexandra Hospital in Edmonton is seeking a Medical Laboratory Technologist II to coordinate daily lab operations and quality control. You will monitor workflows, supervise staff, and serve as the LIS resource for the department, while aiding in policy/procedure development and accreditation activities.

Ideal candidates bring leadership experience, a strong MLT background in chemistry/hematology, and proficiency with listed instrumentation.

Qualifications

Completion of an accredited Medical Laboratory Technology (MLT) program.
Active or eligible for registration and practice permit with the College of Medical Laboratory Technologists of Alberta (CMLTA).
Graduate of a recognized MLT/Medical Technology program; B.Sc. or equivalent preferred.
Minimum of 5–7 years in a high-volume Chemistry and Hematology lab; experience with bone marrow collection/procedures and secondary slide review.

Responsibilities

Coordinate day-to-day operations and quality control in the laboratory.
Provide LIS support and site education; lead quality assurance activities.
Supervise and mentor staff; assign and prioritize work; participate in staff development.
Assist in policy/procedure development and accreditation readiness.
Monitor and follow up on incident reports, proficiency testing, and QA metrics.
