Job summary

Stoakley-Stewart Consultants Ltd. in Canada seeks a Customs Compliance Consultant to join a client‑facing team that helps importers defend classifications, prepare for verifications, and determine duties and taxes.

Based in Mississauga or Windsor, this permanent hybrid role requires four on‑site days and one remote day per week. The ideal candidate has five years of Canadian customs experience, CCS/CTCS designation preferred, plus advanced Excel skills and fluent English.

Qualifications

• Minimum of five years of experience in customs compliance or related roles.
• Strong knowledge of Canadian customs regulations and government agency rules.
• Advanced Excel skills with pivot tables.

Responsibilities

• Determine tariff classifications and maintain client product databases.
• Advise clients on customs requirements including origin and valuation.
• Review free trade documentation for preferential treatment.
• Conduct mock compliance audits and propose corrective actions.
• Support clients through customs verifications and audits.
• Prepare amendments and recovery claims including duty drawbacks.
• Identify recoveries involving customs duties and GST.
• Address requirements under special import measures and regulatory questions.
• Deliver technical training to clients and colleagues.
• Identify consulting needs among clients and recommend services.
