Job summary

Omnitrans inc. is seeking a bilingual Customs Regulatory Compliance Consultant to join our Technical & Consulting Services team.

The role focuses on providing expert guidance on Canadian import regulations, maintaining compliant importer profiles, and reducing regulatory risk for external and internal clients. You will manage a portfolio of top-tier accounts, set up recurring programs, and conduct regulatory research to support CBSA submissions, audits, and appeals.

Qualifications

  • Certified Customs Specialist (CCS) required or in progress.
  • 7+ years of customs experience in a regulatory/compliance role.
  • Proficient in MS Excel with ability to analyze data.
  • Bilingual English/French; French mandatory for this role.

Responsibilities

  • Manage a portfolio of client accounts as the primary customs consultant.
  • Set up and maintain customs programs including audits and rulings.
  • Develop regulatory opinions on classification, origin, and valuation.
  • Prepare appeals and rulings to CBSA, CITT, and Department of Finance.
  • Provide Level 2 regulatory support and training to clients and staff.
  • Lead Quarterly Business Reviews and identify growth opportunities.
  • Collaborate with Operations, Sales, and Tariff Analysts on regulatory matters.
  • Deliver training sessions and webinars on customs regulations.

Omnitrans , part of a Fastfrate Group, is currently searching for a Bilingual Customs Regulatory Compliance Consultant to join our Technical & Consulting Services .

Purpose of the Job

To provide expert Customs consulting services to external and internal clients, ensuring compliance with Canadian import regulations and promoting customs program participation. This role delivers regulatory guidance, manages recurring compliance initiatives, and provides proactive solutions that support clients in maintaining compliant importer profiles and reducing risk exposure.

Responsibilities

  • Manage a portfolio of top-tier client accounts, acting as the primary consultant for customs matters, recurring programs, and regulatory inquiries.
  • Set up and maintain customs programs such as recurring duty drawback claims, CBSA audits, appeals, and ruling requests; conduct mock audits and provide compliance recommendations.
  • Conduct research and develop written regulatory opinions on classification, valuation, origin, duty relief, and other trade-related matters; support CBSA applications as needed.
  • Prepare and submit appeals and rulings to CBSA, CITT, and Department of Finance, articulating strong regulatory positions on behalf of clients.
  • Provide Level 2 support for regulatory inquiries received through the shared consulting email group, escalating to Senior Consultants or manager as appropriate.
  • Participate in Quarterly Business Reviews (QBRs) with clients to discuss customs activity, compliance risks, and value-add opportunities.
  • Identify consulting opportunities and pursue them independently or in collaboration with Sales to support revenue growth.
  • Serve as a regulatory resource to internal stakeholders including Operations, Sales, Client Relations, and Tariff Analysts.
  • Deliver training sessions and webinars for clients and internal teams on customs regulations and compliance best practices.
  • Share knowledge and provide coaching to Advisors and peers; contribute to onboarding and ongoing internal training.
  • Support the preparation of client notices and regulatory updates and ensure client profiles are updated to reflect regulatory changes.
  • Maintain a strong working relationship with CBSA and other government agencies, communicating clearly and professionally on behalf of clients.
What You Bring:
  • Certified Customs Specialist (CCS)
  • Certified Trade Compliance Specialist (CTCS) – an asset
  • 7+ years of comparable Customs experience
  • Intermediate knowledge of MS Excel
  • Ability to multitask, organize, lead, motivate, and teach.
  • Thorough understanding of International Business and trading practices
  • Ability to negotiate and build strong relationships.
  • Ability to prioritize based on the urgency of the request from either co-worker’s, clients and/or government officials.
  • Bilingualism (English/French); French is mandatory.
