Job summary

VSL Canada, a Bouygues Construction subsidiary, is seeking a General Accountant to manage day-to-day accounting, tax documentation, and compliance with Canadian requirements. You will report to the CFO and work with a finance team on month-end close and audits.

Key duties include processing supplier invoices, payments, tax documentation, and general ledger reconciliations. Prior experience in construction or infrastructure is a strong asset; ERP proficiency (SAP) and advanced Excel are preferred.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree or diploma in Accounting, Finance or a related field.
• Minimum 5 years of progressively responsible accounting experience.
• Knowledge of federal and provincial tax and regulatory requirements.
• Experience in construction, engineering, infrastructure or project-based organizations is a strong asset.
• Ability to communicate confidently with auditors, management and stakeholders.
• Strong analytical, organizational and problem-solving skills.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills.

Responsibilities

• Process and post supplier invoices accurately and on a timely basis.
• Review, validate and prepare payments in accordance with company procedures and delegated authorities.
• Monitor invoice status and maintain follow-up with vendors and internal stakeholders.
• Prepare, issue and maintain tax documentation required under Canadian regulations, with particular focus on Ontario requirements.
• Support month-end and year-end closing activities.
• Reconcile general ledger accounts and investigate variances.
• Maintain accurate accounting records and supporting documentation.
• Assist external and internal auditors by explaining accounting transactions, balances and supporting evidence.
• Contribute to process improvements and internal controls.
• Collaborate effectively with finance and operational teams.
