Job summary

Stantec in Canada seeks a Senior Fire Protection Engineer to lead design of fire protection systems for institutional, commercial, industrial, and infrastructure projects, with mentorship of junior staff and support for the fire protection practice.

The role offers a hybrid work model with office, remote work, and site visits across Canada; requires P.Eng., 8+ years of experience, NFPA/NBCC/NFCC knowledge, and proficiency in HydraCAD, HydraCalc, Revit, AutoCAD and Office.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering or Fire Protection Engineering is required.
• Licensed Professional Engineer (P.Eng.) in Canada or eligible for licensure is required.
• Minimum 8 years of relevant experience in fire protection engineering.
• Experience delivering projects in institutional, commercial, industrial, or infrastructure environments is preferred.

Responsibilities

• Lead the design and development of fire protection systems for building projects, ensuring safety and code compliance.
• Perform hydraulic calculations and fire hydrant flow analysis in line with NFPA and Canadian codes.
• Prepare engineering drawings, specifications, and reports using BIM, CAD, and related tools.
• Coordinate with multidisciplinary teams and participate in project delivery from concept to construction.
• Provide technical mentorship to junior engineers and support practice improvement.
