Job summary

Stantec is seeking a Senior Fire Protection Engineer to join our national team in Canada. You will plan, design, and deliver complex fire protection systems for institutional, commercial, industrial, and infrastructure projects, while mentoring juniors and helping shape our practice.

The role supports a hybrid work environment across Canada, with travel as needed for project delivery. The ideal candidate holds a P.Eng., 8+ years of experience, and strong NFPA/Canadian code knowledge.

Qualifications

Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering or Fire Protection Engineering.
Licensed Professional Engineer (P.Eng.) in Canada.
Minimum 8 years of relevant fire protection engineering experience.
Experience delivering projects in institutional, commercial, industrial, or infrastructure environments is preferred.

Responsibilities

Lead design and development of fire protection systems for building projects, ensuring safety and code compliance.
Perform hydraulic calculations and system sizing per NFPA standards and Canadian codes.
Prepare drawings, specs, and reports using BIM, CAD, and related tools.
Mentor junior staff and support development of the fire protection practice.
Coordinate with multidisciplinary teams across project lifecycle.
