Job summary

Tourmaline Oil, a Canadian senior oil and natural gas company, is seeking a Senior Financial Reporting Analyst for a 12‑month maternity leave coverage in Calgary. The role focuses on quarterly reporting, consolidations, MD&A support and monthly reconciliations within a collaborative finance team.

Ideal candidates hold a CPA with 3–5 years post-designation experience, with oil & gas sector exposure and familiarity with publicly listed Canadian companies.

Responsibilities

  • Assist with quarterly financial reporting and consolidations.
  • Lead-sheet preparation and high-level accounting entries.
  • Prepare quarterly financial statements and MD&A support.
  • Prepare monthly/quarterly reconciliations and internal analyses.
  • Support management reporting package and variance analysis.
  • Provide data gathering, analysis and modeling support for finance team.
  • Conduct ad-hoc financial analyses as needed.

We are currently looking for a Senior Financial Reporting Analyst to cover a 12-month Maternity Leave to join our Finance and Financial Reporting Team.

Responsibilities

The successful candidate will be responsible for or assist with the following duties but not be limited to:

  • Assist with the quarterly financial reporting process, including (but not limited to) consolidations, lead-sheet preparation, high-level accounting entries, calculation of some of the more complex entries, for example: decommissioning liabilities, depletion, foreign exchange, stock-based compensation
  • Assisting in the preparation of the quarterly financial statements and MD&A
  • Preparation of monthly/quarterly account reconciliations as well as regular internal financial analysis and reporting
  • Assisting with the preparation of the monthly reporting package for management, including variance analysis
  • Provide accounting support to other members of the finance team, including data gathering, analysis, modeling, etc.
  • Ad-hoc financial analysis

Experience Requirements

The successful candidate needs to have experience in the following areas in order to be qualified for this role:

  • CPA with 3-5 years post designation experience
  • Experience in the oil and gas industry, preferably E&P companies
  • Experience with publicly listed Canadian companies
