Job summary

Aplin is seeking an experienced Senior Financial Analyst to join our finance client in downtown Calgary on a 10-month contract. The role is hybrid, combining collaboration with stakeholders and deep financial analysis to drive strategic decisions.

You will own forecasting, support ICAAP-style processes, build and maintain forecasting models, and prepare management reports. The ideal candidate has 5+ years in FP&A, CPA designation and strong Excel/ERP experience.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, Commerce or related discipline.
  • Accounting designation (CPA, CA, CMA, CGA).
  • 5+ years of progressive experience in FP&A, corporate finance, or a senior financial analyst role.
  • 3+ years within banking/financial institution sector preferred.
  • Strong forecasting experience in a highly detailed environment.
  • Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Excel and financial reporting tools.
  • Experience with ERP systems; Workday and Epicor (GL) familiarity is a plus.

Responsibilities

  • Act as a trusted finance subject matter expert, guiding finance, leadership, and internal partners.
  • Research, analyze, and evaluate financial and operational issues; identify risks/opportunities.
  • Develop recommendations supporting informed decision-making and organizational objectives.
  • Coordinate and support finance, strategic, and operational projects across multiple areas.
  • Support the ICAAP process, including stress testing and risk scenario analysis.

Job description

Our client is seeking an experienced Senior Financial Analyst to join their finance team on a 10-month contract in a hybrid environment downtown Calgary. This is an excellent opportunity for a collaborative finance professional who enjoys partnering with stakeholders, driving strategic initiatives, and delivering meaningful financial insights that support business decisions.

Key Responsibilities
  • Act as a trusted finance subject matter expert, providing guidance and support to finance, leadership, and internal business partners.
  • Research, analyze, and evaluate financial and operational issues, identifying risks, opportunities, and business impacts.
  • Develop recommendations that support informed decision-making and organizational objectives.
  • Coordinate and support finance, strategic, and operational projects across multiple functional areas.
  • Supporting the annual ICAAP process, including financial stress testing and risk scenario analysis.
  • Maintain, enhance, and continuously improve forecasting models to increase accuracy and efficiency.
  • Analyze financial results, identify trends and variances, and prepare reports and presentations for management.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to improve financial processes, reporting, and overall business performance.
  • Support ad hoc financial analysis and special projects as required.
Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, Commerce, or a related discipline.
  • Accounting designation (CPA, CA, CMA, CGA)
  • 3+ years within the banking or financial institution sector is preferred.
  • 5+ years of progressive experience in financial planning and analysis, corporate finance, or a senior financial analyst role.
  • Strong experience with forecasting - this environment has very comprehensive forecasting and is extremely detailed.
  • Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Excel and financial reporting tools.
  • Experience working with ERP systems; familiarity with Workday and Epicor (GL) is an asset.
