  • CPA designation required and/or CPA track completed.
  • 3–5 years of recent experience in public accounting or private enterprise.
  • Experience preparing corporate income tax (T2) returns and schedules.
  • Hands-on experience with compilation, review, or audit files with full working papers.
  • Strong knowledge of ASPE and related accounting standards.
  • Advanced Excel skills and ability to work with financial systems.
  • Highly organized, self-directed, and able to manage multiple priorities.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication with senior leaders.
  • Real estate, construction, or land development exposure is an asset.
  • Familiarity with HST, Tax software, and ERP systems used in construction or real estate.

Responsibilities

  • Prepare and review monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements and supporting working papers for corporate and project entities.
  • Perform account reconciliations and support project accounting, including cost tracking and budgeting analysis.
  • Develop variance analyses and management reports with insights on drivers and trends.
  • Assist with cash flow reporting, forecasting, and lender/partner reporting packages.
  • Coordinate with external auditors and prepare year-end files and audit responses.
  • Prepare T2 corporate tax returns and schedules in compliance with tax regulations.
  • Identify opportunities to improve processes, internal controls, and reporting systems.
  • Lead and support special projects and ad hoc analyses for senior leadership.

Job description

Our client, a well established and growing organization in the GTA, is seeking a Senior Financial Analyst to join their Finance and Accounting team. This role offers an excellent opportunity for a public practice CPA to transition into an industry setting, applying their technical expertise to support financial reporting, project accounting, and process improvements.

What you will achieve in this role:

  • Prepare and review monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements and supporting working papers for corporate and project entities.
  • Perform account reconciliations and support project accounting functions, including project cost tracking and budget analysis.
  • Develop variance analysis and management reports, providing insights on financial drivers and trends.
  • Assist with cash flow reporting, forecasting, and lender/partner reporting packages.
  • Coordinate with external auditors, prepare year-end files, and respond to audit inquiries.
  • Prepare corporate income tax (T2) returns and supporting schedules, ensuring compliance with tax regulations such as HST and rebates.
  • Identify opportunities to improve processes, internal controls, and reporting systems.
  • Lead and support special projects and ad hoc financial analyses for senior leadership.

What you will bring to this role:

  • CPA designation obtained through public practice (CA legacy route or CPA).
  • 3 to 5 years of recent experience in a public accounting firm or private enterprise, preferably in owner-managed businesses.
  • Experience preparing corporate income tax (T2) returns and supporting schedules.
  • Hands-on experience with compilation, review, or audit engagement files, including full working paper documentation.
  • Strong technical knowledge of accounting standards, particularly ASPE.
  • Advanced proficiency in Excel and a solid aptitude for systems.
  • Highly organized, self-directed, with the ability to manage multiple priorities and meet deadlines.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, capable of interacting confidently with senior leaders.
  • Industry exposure to real estate, construction, or land development is an asset.
  • Familiarity with HST, tax software (e.g., TaxPrep, Profile), Caseware, ERP systems related to construction or real estate, and multi-entity structures is preferred.

Additional Qualifications:

  • Experience with intercompany accounting processes and reporting systems is advantageous.
