Job summary

Sunnybrook Foundation seeks a Senior Financial Analyst – Financial Reporting to join the Finance team at Sunnybrook Health Sciences Centre. You will produce monthly financial statements, support annual budgeting, and manage compliance reporting for Canadian and US charity requirements.

The role partners with internal stakeholders and external auditors, helps with gifts and tax receipting, and contributes to enhanced reporting and analysis in a Not-for-Profit setting.

Qualifications

• College diploma or university degree in accounting or business administration.
• Enrolled in CPA program is considered an asset.
• Not-for-Profit sector experience preferred.
• Approximately 5 years accounting experience in automated environments.

The Team

The Finance team is accountable for the Foundation’s financial and grant management reporting, financial planning and analysis, investment management, tax and regulatory compliance, legal and risk management. The team establishes policies, procedures and controls to ensure timely and accurate reporting of the financial results. Position Overview

The Senior Financial Analyst – Financial Reporting is a key member of the Finance team, with primary responsibilities for producing monthly financial reporting to the Audit and Finance Committee, development of the full annual budget and supporting business plans, and responsible for all compliance reporting. The Senior Financial Analyst reports to the Manager, Financial Reporting & Analysis. In addition, the role works closely with the Finance team and other internal stakeholders to deliver timely and effective support for Foundation leadership team and Board committees.

Key Duties and Responsibilities

• Produce the monthly financial statements including analysis of revenue and expenses and investigate material variances.
• Lead the annual budgeting and planning process which includes preparation of inputs, consolidation and review of financial plans and budgets with recommendations for revisions.
• Produce all required compliance reporting including annual Canadian and US year-end charity information returns.
• Responsible for all stock gift valuations and eligible tax receipting, including verification that information is complete and accurate for Gift Administration processing.
• Support the monthly recording and analysis of the investment transactions, cashflow, and forward looking analysis.
• Maintain segregation of duties by creating new vendor records and changing vendor records in the Accounts Payable subledger.
• Post final monthly open batches to the General Ledger.
• Support the integration of the Foundation’s online fundraising platforms with Raiser’s Edge and Financial Edge.
• Participate in special projects and serve as a core team member on cross functional initiatives to understand business unit needs and determine solutions for enhanced reporting and analysis.
• Work with the Finance team and external auditors to coordinate and complete year-end audit fieldwork.
• Research accounting treatments and tax receipting matters related to the Not-for-Profit sector and provide recommendations to management.

Qualifications and Competencies

• Effectively manage multiple tasks, work demands and shifting priorities ensuring deadlines are met
• College diploma or university degree in accounting or business administration or related business experience.
• Enrolled in or completion of CPA program considered an asset
• Working experience in the Not-for-Profit sector is preferred
• Approximately 5 years relevant accounting experience, with exposure to accounting procedures and internal controls, in an automated database environment
• Knowledge of Raiser’s Edge and Financial Edge would be considered an asset
• Solid working knowledge of Microsoft Office 365 including Excel, Word and PowerPoint.

Total Rewards Package

This role has been evaluated with an annual salary range of $82,000-102,000. The hiring range for this position is $82,000-90,000. The salary will be determined based on the successful candidate’s years of experience, qualifications and competencies that are relevant to this position.

In addition to salary, our competitive compensation package also includes, comprehensive health and dental benefits, HOOPP (Healthcare of Ontario Pension Plan), hybrid work environment with a minimum of two (2) days in office, two (2) float days each fiscal year and additional Sunny Days (paid Foundation office closures around select long weekends and in late December).
