Job summary

Altis Technology is seeking a seasoned finance leader to oversee full‑cycle accounting, budgeting, and financial reporting for a not‑for‑profit organization in Ontario. You will guide GAAP compliance, governance, and internal controls, while mentoring a small finance team and partnering with senior leadership.

The role emphasizes strategic financial planning, audit coordination, and process improvements to support mission impact and organizational growth.

Qualifications

  • 5+ years of progressive finance and financial analysis experience, preferably in a not-for-profit setting.
  • CPA designation completed or actively in progress.
  • Strong knowledge of GAAP, financial reporting, budgeting, forecasting, and full cycle accounting.
  • Experience with regulatory reporting, audits, payroll approvals, and compliance.
  • Proficiency with ACCPAC or comparable financial systems, plus advanced Excel and MS Office.
  • Excellent analytical, organizational, and leadership skills with confidentiality.
  • Not-for-profit sector experience is a strong asset.

Responsibilities

  • Oversee full cycle accounting, month-, quarter-, and year-end closes.
  • Lead budgeting, forecasting, variance analysis, and financial modeling.
  • Prepare financial statements, regulatory reports, and dashboards for leadership.
  • Ensure GAAP compliance and strong internal controls.
  • Coordinate annual audits with external auditors.
  • Mentor Finance team and foster a collaborative work environment.
  • Identify opportunities to improve financial systems and processes.

Working closely with senior leadership and leading a small finance team, you will oversee full cycle accounting, financial reporting, budgeting, compliance, and audit activities. Your Responsibilities
  • You'll lead the organization's full cycle accounting, general ledger management, month-end, quarter-end, and year-end close processes.
  • You'll oversee budgeting, forecasting, financial modelling, and variance analysis to support informed operational and strategic decisions.
  • You'll prepare financial statements, Ministry reporting, management reports, dashboards, and presentations for senior leadership and the Board.
  • You'll ensure compliance with GAAP, applicable reporting standards, tax requirements, and regulatory submissions while maintaining strong internal controls.
  • You'll coordinate annual audit activities, working closely with external auditors to ensure timely and accurate completion.
  • You'll mentor and support the Finance team, fostering a collaborative, high-performing, and engaged work environment.
  • You'll identify opportunities to enhance financial systems, reporting processes, and operational efficiencies.
Skills and Qualifications
  • 5+ years of progressive finance and financial analysis experience, supported by a university degree in Accounting, Business, or a related discipline.
  • CPA designation completed or actively in progress.
  • Strong knowledge of GAAP, financial reporting, budgeting, forecasting, and full cycle accounting.
  • Experience preparing regulatory reporting, audits, payroll approvals, and financial compliance activities.
  • Proficiency with ACCPAC or comparable financial systems, along with advanced Microsoft Excel and Microsoft Office skills.
  • Excellent analytical, organizational, problem-solving, communication, and leadership skills, with the ability to manage competing priorities while maintaining confidentiality.
  • Experience within the not-for-profit sector is considered a strong asset.
