Job summary

Aplin is recruiting an FP&A Associate in Orangeville, ON to join a growing family-owned manufacturing group. You will move beyond traditional reporting into hands-on financial analysis, costing, forecasting, and business decision‑making alongside ownership, the Controller, and operations.

The ideal candidate is a CPA or CPA‑candidate with a solid accounting foundation, 3–6 years of FP&A experience, and strong skills in cost accounting, financial modeling, and data analytics.

Qualifications

  • CPA designation or CPA candidate.
  • 3–6 years of accounting, finance, or FP&A experience.
  • Strong cost accounting foundations in manufacturing.
  • Strong Excel skills and financial modeling experience.
  • Ability to connect financial results to operational performance.
  • Interest in using AI tools to improve analysis.
  • Experience working with operations and production teams.

Responsibilities

  • Develop and analyze product costing and profitability by product, customer, mold, and machine.
  • Perform customer and product family margin analysis, including price, volume, and mix analysis.
  • Support capital investment analysis and evaluate financial returns on major equipment.
  • Build and maintain budgets, forecasts, models, and scenarios for Canada and the U.S.
  • Collaborate with production and engineering on financial impacts such as scrap and capacity.
  • Analyze and compare performance across Canadian and U.S. manufacturing ops.
  • Identify opportunities for cost savings and improved profitability.
  • Leverage AI tools and dashboards to accelerate analysis for decision‑making.
  • Translate financial data into insights for ownership and senior leadership.
  • Support FP&A related to growth and expansion.
  • Collaborate with Controller and finance/ops teams on ad hoc analyses.

Our client, a rapidly growing, family-owned manufacturing organization, is looking for an FP&A Associate to join their finance team in Orangeville, ON.

This is an exciting opportunity for a CPA or CPA-candidate with a strong accounting foundation who is looking to move beyond traditional reporting and play a hands‑on role in financial analysis, costing, forecasting, and business decision‑making.

The successful candidate will work closely with ownership, the Controller, and operations while supporting a growing Canadian and U.S. manufacturing footprint.

Compensation, Benefits & Perks
  • $100,000-$120,000, plus a bonus of up to 25%

Responsibilities

  • Build and maintain budgets, forecasts, financial models, and scenario analyses across Canadian and U.S. operations
  • Partner with production and engineering teams to analyze financial impacts related to scrap, utilization, capacity, and production performance
  • Analyze and compare operational and financial performance across Canadian and U.S. manufacturing operations
  • Identify opportunities for cost savings, improved profitability, and operational efficiency
  • Leverage AI tools, dashboards, and financial data to accelerate analysis and support business decision‑making
  • Translate financial and operational data into clear insights and recommendations for ownership and senior leadership
  • Support financial planning and analysis related to the company’s continued growth and expansion
  • Collaborate closely with the Controller and broader finance and operations teams on ad hoc analysis and strategic initiatives
Qualifications
  • CPA designation or currently in the final stages of the CPA program
  • Approximately 3–6 years of relevant accounting, finance, or FP&A experience
  • Strong foundation in cost accounting and/or management accounting, with the ability to apply these concepts in a manufacturing environment
  • Strong Excel skills and experience building financial models
  • Strong business acumen and the ability to connect financial results to operational performance
  • Curious, analytical mindset with an interest in using AI tools and emerging technology to improve financial analysis
  • Comfortable working directly with operations, engineering, and production teams in a manufacturing environment
  • Self‑directed and comfortable working in a fast‑paced, growing organization
  • Strong communication skills and the ability to turn complex financial information into practical business insights
  • Manufacturing experience is considered an asset
  • Public accounting experience followed by industry experience is considered an asset
  • HBA, CFA Level 1, or similar business/finance education is considered an asset
  • Experience with Power BI, SQL, Python, or other data analytics tools is an asset
  • Exposure to cross‑border operations, FX, tariffs, or U.S. finance is an asset
  • Openness to occasional U.S. travel is considered an asset, but travel is not required for the role
