Job summary

Qualus is seeking a Senior Field Service Technician to test, maintain and repair low and medium voltage equipment in shop and field settings. The role includes mentoring junior technicians, leading projects, and coordinating field crews across site environments.

Candidate will work with transformers, switchgear, breakers, CTs/PTs, and related control equipment, with heavy emphasis on field execution, documentation, and cross-functional collaboration. Travel and multi-site work are common.

Qualifications

• Technical School, EET, BSEE/BSME or 5-10 years of related experience.
• 6+ years field experience in installing, testing, starting up, maintaining, repairing power distribution equipment.
• Frequent travel to the United States is required.
• Valid Driver’s license and good driving record.
• Reference and complete assignments as described in applicable specifications.
• Regular field work indoors and outdoors.
• Strong interpersonal skills, communication, business acumen, management ability.
• Experience reading electrical drawings (single line diagrams, AC/DC schematics, panel wiring diagrams, panel layouts).
• Writing procedures and/or test plans for maintenance and construction activities.
• Experience testing, maintenance, troubleshooting and repair of apparatus (switchgear, breakers, transformers, CTs, PTs, cables, ATS, relays).
• 3+ years in transformers repairs or switchgear retrofit/maintenance; HV cable repairs and testing.

Responsibilities

• Provide testing capabilities for relays, breakers, transformers, motor control equipment and switchgear in the field.
• Lead field crew for testing/maintenance/repair.
• Prepare and document site projects.
• Mentor junior technicians and lead small teams.
• Identify equipment and resources for shop/field.
• Review SAFs and time reports for accuracy.
• Provide daily site summaries and weekly status reports.
• Support project budgeting and sales with labor estimates.
