Job summary

Qualus is seeking a Senior Protection & Control Engineer to join our Transmission and Distribution Canada team. You will provide technical leadership for protection, control, and metering systems in HV substations ranging from 12 kV to 500 kV.

You will guide designs from concept through commissioning, mentor junior engineers, and support proposals with the Business Development team. A P.Eng. license or eligibility is preferred.

Qualifications

• 8–10 years of utility protection, control, and metering experience.
• P.Eng. registration in Canada or eligibility strongly preferred.
• Strong skills in P&C design drawings and relay settings.
• Experience with high-voltage transmission protection coordination.

Responsibilities

• Provide technical leadership for protection, control, and metering systems in substations.
• Serve as Technical Lead guiding concepts through construction and commissioning.
• Develop protection planning documents and one-lines/schematics.
• Perform protection coordination studies and relay settings.
• Lead design reviews, F.A.T., and field inspections.
• Support outage planning, construction, and commissioning activities.
• Participate in client reviews and proposals with the BD team.
• Mentor junior engineers and advance P&C standards.
